David A. Sun, M.D., Ph.D., joined Norton Neuroscience Institute after completing a neurosurgical residency and clinical fellowship in epilepsy and movement disorder neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, where he earned both his medical degree and a Ph.D. in basic science mechanisms of epilepsy.
Dr. Sun’s clinical practice focus is in the surgical management of epilepsy; brain, pituitary and spine tumors; endoscopic neurosurgery; hydrocephalus; and other cranial pathology. He works closely with Tarek Zakaria, M.D., epilepsy neurologist, leading Norton Healthcare’s comprehensive epilepsy program. Additionally, he offers care for brain tumors at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and works with Todd Shanks, M.D., functional neurosurgeon, to support Norton Neuroscience Institute’s deep brain stimulation program for movement disorders.
