Quality Oncology Practice Initiative
In 2011, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) recognized Norton Cancer Institute with certification for its commitment to high-quality, comprehensive cancer care as defined by clinical experts.
Cancer network accreditation
Norton Cancer Institute is the only network-accredited cancer program in Kentucky as designated by the Commission on Cancer, a division of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). This recognition means Norton Cancer Institute is among an elite group of ACoS-accredited cancer programs nationwide.
National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program
In 2010 Norton Cancer Institute was selected to participate in the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program. NCCCP is a strategic partnership between the National Cancer Institute and participating hospitals with the goal of creating a community-based cancer center network to support research, enhance access to care and increase quality of care at community hospitals throughout the nation. Norton Cancer Institute is home to more than 100 oncology-certified nurses, 10 patient navigators and five clinical research nurses. Norton Cancer Institute is the only NCCCP site in Kentucky and one of only 30 sites in the nation selected to pilot initiatives designed to improve cancer outcomes.
Summit Award winner
Press Ganey Associates Inc. named Norton Cancer Institute a 2009 Summit Award winner. The award is the health care industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement in patient satisfaction. It recognizes organizations that, for three consecutive years, remain in the top 5 percent of Press Ganey’s database for dedication to service excellence and exceptional patient satisfaction. Norton Cancer Institute was one of only 74 organizations in the nation to receive this prestigious honor in 2009. |
