Jonathan Yerasimides, M.D.

Jonathan Yerasimides, M.D., is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgery of the hip and pelvis.  He earned a bachelor's degree in biology and his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2005, Dr. Yerasimides completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Louisville. The same year, his interest in hip and pelvis surgery motivated him to accept a subspecialty fellowship with the foremost authority on hip and pelvis surgery in the United States, Joel Matta, M.D.

Dr. Yerasimides almost exclusively operates on the hip and pelvis. He has performed more than 1,400 anterior-approach hip replacement surgeries since August 2006. Dr. Yerasimides has quickly become an authority on anterior-approach hip replacement, a less invasive procedure performed through an incision in the front of the hip. Dr. Yerasimides has performed this procedure more than any surgeon in Kentucky. He travels to teach the anterior-approach to other orthopaedic surgeons, and surgeons visit Louisville to watch him perform the procedure firsthand. In addition to hip replacement, Dr. Yerasimides is one of few surgeons in the country who performs anterior-approach hip resurfacing and was named top hip replacement surgeon in Louisville in the August 2010 issue of Louisville Magazine, as selected by members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society.

Dr. Yerasimides is married and has three children. He and his wife are originally from Richmond, Mo., a small town on the outskirts of Kansas City. They are avid sports fans who enjoy thoroughbred racing at Churchill Downs, University of Louisville sports and the Kansas City Chiefs. They are proud to call Louisville home.
